Learning to Fall

Monday, August 4th, 2008

At our church service on Sunday we had a visiting preacher from Australia, Tony Rainbow (Tony Rambo), and he shared his mesage with us on which he spoke on how “failure was not an option, it was a given”. That is we are meant to fail in order for us to succeed. He then went on to share, in one of his points, on how Russian trapeze artists, when they first start their training, are taught, first and foremost, how to fall. In other words they are given the impression it is OK to fall - in fact falling is part of the process of getting better but you must know how to fall properly.

Well, life is much like this principle. We will make mistakes, we will say the wrong things, hey we even make the wrong decisions that could cost us money but in learning to fall or in essence learning from the errors, we move on and become better people. It generally is hard to grasp what the failure process is teaching us right within the midst of that process but as we work through it and then ultimately look back from whence we came we can see that we actually did achieve a victory and then we come to realise that we are in fact “people in process”. A process of change for the better.
